RSA Style Whiteboard Animation
An example of an RSA (Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts) style animation that I produced using Sparkol’s Videoscribe. Historically these styles of animation were typically produced live on a whiteboard or animated using a rostrum camera – an expensive, time consuming process. New desktop applications are now allowing graphic artists to quickly create hand drawn whiteboard style animations at a fraction of the time and cost. This example uses custom line drawings created in Adobe Illustrator and imported into Videoscribe as SVG’s.
One issue with Videoscribe is that the more complex the drawing the faster the animated hand will move trying to follow the lines, this can sometimes prove to be very distracting to the viewer. Therefore the graphics in this example were kept deliberately simple.
